![]() Pelargir is described as a city, certainly, but we get no real sense of its size other than the fact that we know it's the chief port of Gondor. In fact, Osgiliath was really the last city in Middle-earth, and that was destroyed by the Enemy. Minas Tirith was built as the fort for nearby Osgiliath. There is an argument that there are actually no 'cities' left in Middle-earth, just a ragged collection of towns, villages and the occasional hill fort and citadel.Īs has been pointed out in this thread, Minas Tirith (Tower of the Guard) isn't a city at all - it's a citadel, or fortress. ![]()
